Our Mission & Vision
The Lions International Mission Statement is clear: To empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.
Our Global Causes focus the efforts of Lions and Leos on five service areas with the goal of tripling our humanitarian impact by serving 200 million people per year by 2021. Those areas include: Diabetes, Environment, Hunger, Childhood Cancer and Vision. Our Global Causes complement all of the great ways clubs serve locally, and gives Lions and Leos new opportunities to help meet the growing challenges facing humanity.

Reston Lions Club is Committed to…
This is perhaps the most well-known focus of the Lions Clubs, which involves efforts to prevent blindness, restore eyesight, and improve eye health and eye care for millions of people worldwide. This includes providing cataract surgeries, eyeglasses, eye disease screenings, and even training for local healthcare workers.
Lions Clubs support youth through scholarships, youth camps and recreation, leadership development programs like the Leo Club (Leadership, Experience, Opportunity), and the Lions Quest teaching program. They also organize sports competitions and peace poster contests to engage young people in creative and constructive ways.
Lions provide immediate and sustained relief in response to disasters. They offer food, water, clothing, and medical supplies, and help with long-term rebuilding efforts.
Lions Clubs work on projects that address health and education needs, such as diabetes awareness, hearing loss programs, and literacy and gender equality projects. They also support efforts to reduce measles and rubella and provide support services for the elderly and the disabled.
Environmental conservation is another crucial focus, where Lions Clubs participate in recycling programs, tree planting projects, and educational initiatives aimed at preserving the environment for future generations.
Lions work on projects aimed at feeding the hungry. They organize food drives, support food banks, and engage in programs designed to improve the nutrition of those in need, particularly in underprivileged communities.
Lions Clubs also focus on supporting children with cancer and their families. This includes raising funds for research, providing support services, and enhancing the quality of life for young patients through various initiatives.
